Tyan board-Opterons-Memory Which?
From the Tyan site:
Memory . 128-bit DDR memory bus . Six 184-pin 2.5-Volt DDR DIMM sockets - four controlled by CPU1 and two on CPU2 . Supports up to 12GB of Registered DDR . Supports ECC type memory modules . Supports PC3200 / 2700 / 2100 / 1600 DDR When it says it "supports" PC3200 / 2700 / 2100 / 1600 does that mean that all it needs is 1600, and you wont get any real benefit from the higher speed ram or does it mean that you will get more performance out of the higher speed ram. If I have the Opteron 244 (1.8mhz) which Ram should I have to get the best performance out of the Processor.

Check the AMD site to see what speeds the 244 support, it will handle at least PC2700 and probably PC3200.

To get the best performance from your memory and CPU interface, when using the 1.8 GHz processor, you should get either DDR 266 (2nd choice) or DDR 400 (1st choice) memory. The DDR 333 memory will be out of phase with the CPU clock. The same is true for CPUs at 2.2 GHz. CPUs at 2.1 GHz support DDR 400. A CPU at 2.0 GHz will support all memory speeds through DDR 400. AFAIK, the AMD64 processors do not presently support DDR2 at any speed grade, but hopefully this will change soon.
