Dell 4600C Firewire Modem PCMCIA Reader Part

With much searching I discovered how to order the "Front/ Rear IEEE
1394 Ports and Dual Front PCMCIA slots with Data Fax Modem PCIMOD
[313-1815]" part for a Dell Dimension 4600C. Calling the sales people
or spare parts people will never get you to this part. I found the
info in the Dell Community Forums on their support page.

The part number is R0224. Here is the note from the person that
discovered this information:

With much persistence and some help from a very diligent Dell
Technical
Services representative (Jaen) I finally resolved the problem of
locating
the elusive firewire upgrade for my Dimension 4600C. The correct Dell
part
number is R0224. I called the following Dell Sales telephone number:
1-800-915-3355, x 66200. I ordered the R0224 PCMCIA Interface Card
(cost
$109 w/o shipping). I received it yesterday. It includes a PCI
modem/ieee
1394 card with two RJ-11 and 4-pin firewire ports for the rear (I had
to
replace my existing PCI modem card). It also includes a circut card
assembly with PCMCIA slots and 4-pin firewire port for the front; flex
and
wire cables are also included. I installed the hardware in minutes
and was
capturing video immediately, now ready to burn my own DVDs.

I had been searching for the proper hardware for awhile with
many
hours on the phone and numerous useless email exchanges with Dell
Technical
and Sales support. I even purchased a few incorrect items in the
painful
process of trying to explain my objective to capture video and still
maintain modem capability purchased with the 4600C. I hope you
haven't
given up yet.
