Default Cool'n'Quite

Hi!
I've a notebook Acer Aspire 1513LMi with A64 3400+ processor.
After I buy my nb i've format the hd and I've install Win XP Pro with
integrated SP2.
The system run very well, fast and and without error or system crash!
...I'm really happy!
I've also installed the latet AMD processor Driver downloaded from the AMD
official site.
My question is if it's all i've to do to have Cool'n'Quite working or I've
ho dl and install other sw.
In my machine bios isn't the option to enable/disable this function.
However during my job i've notice that the cpu cooler switch it's speed.
I'm sorry for my english and I hope that someone can understand my question!
Thanks a lot, Ale!

Download CPU-Z from www.cpuid.com and see if the speed is changing: low
speed in idle - full speed on load.

Notebooks should use PowerNow! instead.
