Well I don't know if I'm alone, but this is the first post I've seen in this
thread.

Phil, not a problem. Having built my own 3000+ recently, I was very excited
about it.
This isn't a real active newsgroup, but there are a few good posts.
Mostly people just refer you to planetAMD.
enjoy your new toy

also if anybody has the kv8t800 pro from giga-byte
could you let me know what memory timings you have tried
and the ones that work properly and at what voltage for the
dimms if not using default as it seems what ever i try does not seem
to work and the box does not boot unless set to default in the bios.
i ask this as i took out my grfx card to test a friends and when
re seated my memory will not go above 333 now instead of 400 and anything
i do in the bios will not let the thing boot, as i said unless set to
default.
thanks.

Tom's Hardware site is being criticized as having become very pro Intel
for some reason. I can not comment one way or another but the good
folks at Anandtech.com (forums) who use AMD are very upset with him/his
site.

I wish I could just give you some numbers to make you happy but my AMD64
3200+ came inside of an eMachine that I got at BestBuy. AIDA32 says
that it is performing to the specs on the box, so I am happy. However
the bios offers no and I do mean no opportunity to be able to change
much of anything at all.

That saddens me a bit but boy do I love this unit. Thanks...

I've seen that before but never understood it. It has always looked to me
like Tom's just tests them and calls them as they are. If AMD is ahead, he
says so.

It's simple Intel sponsorship. I have quit even going by that site for intel
or AMD reviews. Reviews of either have become a farce to read at Tom's
Hardware anymore. Thankfully there are 100's of other sites that give us the
real, unbiased story on the two frequently so less informed buyers can
properly research an item.

Every news or anything given is given with a slant. Even if they don't mean
to.
