Full Table and Full Table - Mapped Hardware Configuration Options
Can someone please explain the difference between the following two APIC
settings, found on many Compaq Proliant servers: Full Table Full Table - Mapped What is the implication of each setting with reference to multiprocessor use under Windows 2000? Which is generally the preferred setting for that use? -- Will westes AT earthbroadcast.com |

Both are needed for SMP configurations.
PII and newer processors are able to manage thier cache meory mapping on the processor, while PPro and older processors are not. On those older processors, you must specify Full Table, Mapped in order for OS's like NT and 2000 to properly map cachable memory to all the available processors. That should help...
