MSI GF FX-5900-VTD 128

I'm planning to upgrade my Visiontek ti4600 to an MSI GF-5900-VTD 128.
Is this a good choice. Considering I don't want to spend alots of money.
It's 279.00 cad.

The FX5900 Non Ultra... good choice!

Not directly MUCH faster in games but you'll find that raising AA or
Aniso higher can be done with much less performance loss!

Make sure that it is NOT the 5900XT version !!! The 5900/128 non-XT
is no longer on the MSI website !

IMHO, MSI is a cheesy vendor. Any vendor that does not openly
state the GPU, Memory clock-speeds and other performance-critical
hard-number specs in the (so-called) Product Specs on their website
fits that bill for me. Of course, such vendors customarily also try to
hide an inferior hardware product behind "glossy" bundled software.

This is misinformation.
SP has slower ram & clocked slower .
V - Video in
T - TV out
D - DVI-I out (Can also do dual monitor with included adapter)
R - Remote
The last 3 numbers represents the RAM size in MB.

So a VTD model can do video capture, while a TD model can't.
SP version has 2.8ns RAMs and the memory clock was @ 750MHz while the
TD was @ 2.6ns for 850MHz and Ultra @ 2.2ns for 850MHz.

yep SP stand for superior product in this case ,gf fx 5900 sp-vtd 128,
it's 26db Noise Level Cooling System .
supose to reduce noise of ventilator in some apps which aren't
demanding for gp

gainward fx power pack ultra 1200 xp 128 mb(5900 serial) which one is

Actually SP means (in the case of Nvidia cards with this suffix):
Stinking P***poor.

And XT means eXtra Tacky

And MSI means Made (for) Stupid Idiots

........................................... who apparently can't read
specs since only regurgitated Nvidia Marketing
Hype (with the most important spec numbers deliberately
omitted) appear on the MSI web-site.

For example, see:-
