Default Help Windows NT 4 SP6 Nvidia 5200 128 MB no resolution above 1024x768

Can anyone help I am ssoooo stuck!? I have Windows NT 4 SP6 with an
AGP Nvidia
GEForce 5200 128 MB and can't get a resolution above 1024x768. Please
note I
already have,...

1. installed both the english and now international drivers v 43.45
2. re-installed many times after changing the nv4_disp.inf file
which now reads

[nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings]
HKR,, "UseCompressedModeFormat", %REG_DWORD%, 1 (tried
with
and without)
HKR,, NV_Modes, %REG_MULTI_SZ%, "{*}S 640x400=1F;320x200
320x240
400x300 480x360 512x384=F;SHV 1920x1440x32
2048x1536x8,16=1;640x480
720x480 768x576 800x600 1024x768 1152x864 1280x720 1280x768
1280x800
1280x854 1280x960 1280x1024 1360x768 1400x1050 1440x900
1600x900
1600x1000 1600x1024 1600x1200 1680x1050
1920x1200x8,16=1F;1920x1200x32=3;1920x1440x8,16=F; "

3. I know my DELL Trinitron 15" supports up to 1280x1024 (120Hz and
64kHz)
and have had this working with another card at 60 Hz refresh rate.
4. I have Tried PowerStrip 2.78 which also can't see above 1024x768.
5. tried setting the registry values by hand in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardwa re Profiles\
0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NV4\DEVICE0
but they get put back to defaults on boot.

I have an oldish Soyo 5EHM motherboard with AGPx2 (enabled in the
BIOS), and
a RAM apature of 128MB (enabled in the BIOS). The processor is an AMD
K6 300
MHz and 256MB of SDRAM.

I am beginning to think the driver just doesn't like me. I really
need an Nvidia expert to ,...
1. give me an amazing solution
2. Tell which part of my hardware or config is the problem, or
3. to confirm that I am flogging a dead horse.

Thanks in advance,
Terry.
