Default Geforce 4 Ti4200 - Games Crashing to Desktop

Try switching to 4X AGP and see if it fixes it. The gains between 4X and 8X
are almost negligable. If it fixes your problem, all the better

Hi,

First of all Ive got the following components

- Leadtek A280 Geforce 4 Ti4200 with AGP 8x with 45.33 WHQL drivers
- Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard with latest bios (1007) and nforce drivers
(2.45)
- AMD Athlon 2600+ XP
- 512Mb PC2700 ram (Kingmax)
- WinXP Home SP1 with latest patches
- DirectX 9
- Raptor SATA HDD
- 480W Antec Truepower PSU
- 2 x 120mm case fans
- vantec aeroflow cpu fan

The problem Im having is that games such as (max payne 2 and hitman 2)

crash
to the desktop after 15 minutes of game play.

Ive disable vertical sync in the nvidia control panel settings and this

has
helped a bit but they still tend to crash with no errors or bluescreens

back
to the desktop.

Ive disabled AA and AF but this doesn't make a difference. Ive also

changed
the nvidia performance and quality settings with no help.

Ive also tried the newer 52.xx series of drivers with the same problem.

I dont think it is the cooling as there are 2 120mm fans as well as a

vantec
aeroflow cooler keeping the cpu at about 40 degrees under load. the gpu
reports about 50 degrees under load as well.

Can anyone please shed some light on resolving this issue.

Thanks in advance

Eyman
