USB 2.0 hub won't work - 1.1 does!
I've got a Gigabyte GA-8IEXP motherboard which supports six USB 2.0 ports and
am running XP. I've previously had a USB 1.1 hub plugged in with no problem. I'm now trying to replace that with a USB 2.0 hub (Inland), but the system doesn't recognize I've plugged anything in (although the devices plugged in to the hub are getting power). I've tried two different hubs from two manufacturers, so I'm fairly sure there's nothing wrong with the hubs. I've tried deleting the USB-related entries from the device manager and allowing Windows to add them back in, and I'm running the latest BIOS, but the system still doesn't see the 2.0 hub or anything plugged in to it. Any ideas? -- @@@@@@@ If my laptop battery is almost empty, * @@@ * shouldn't my laptop be lighter? *@@* -\* |

Any ideas? Have you got at least SP1, on XP?. This is _required_ to get USB2 working on most boards, unless you are loading a third party USB driver... Best Wishes |

Yep, running SP1, and the on-board USB 2.0 ports are working fine. Bill -- @@@@@@@ If my laptop battery is almost empty, * @@@ * shouldn't my laptop be lighter? *@@* -\* |
