K8NSNXP buzzes I think its DSP

Have you ever watched tv on a wide screen when the pitcure is bright.
It makes the same noise as that. Its not my moniter. Tried it on
other machian. Plus old screan on this computer.

Sounds like a switching power supply - the chopping frequency is 20 - 40
Khz, in the same range as the horizontal oscillator frequency of some TV
sets. Try substituting another PS.

I have decided it is the power freq. Its the only thing I havent
tryed. Tomorrow i'm gona try a diffrent PSU.

OK - let us know what you find out.

I changed the PSU and it didn't work.

Someone else had the same proble, but with a diferent giga-byte MB. He
said it came from the volt chips next to the CPU. Mines in that sort
of area. His went after a week. Hope mine does. Could be a giga-byte
MB thing.
Any one else had this problem with a giga-byte MB?

Giga-byte haven't replyed to my e-mail yet, hopefully they will soon.

Any more suggestion keep um cumin. I've ran out of ideas. Except get a
mew MB.
Any sugestions for a sk 939. has to be highly overclockerble.

Hi,

Buzzing is often due to inductor / transformer windings.
The DSP and motherboard has a lot of small inductors, so you could try using
a plastic pen or some such and press the windings on each conductor in turn.
You may be able to identify one that has not been wound tight enough... Then
*maybe* use some epoxy or other method to tighten it up. I would check the
temparature of the component first as if it runs hot many some "epoxies"
will become elastic.

On 8KNXP rev 1's in the days before Prescott, people often ran the system
without the DSP. I am not advising this, you may wish to try it at your own
risk.

the Inductors are incased in the DPS and don't want to remove it as it
has a fan on it , hopefully, keeping everything cool. I stuck a pen
in and tuched the 1 I can get to. It didn't stop the noise. There are
probably many but cant get to then.

I scared the hell out of me as well. As i tuched the conductor the
head of the pen tuched one of the fan blades and scared the crap out
of me, lol.

I may grow some balls in the next few day and try your sugestion
properly. But in the mean time ill see if it goes by itself. Probly
wont but you never know.

Do you think it will go by itself.
