Ga-8knxp ultra-64 memory DDR500
I ordering a new motherboard GA-8KNXP ultra-64 with a 3.0GHx prescott P4.
Giga-Byte says it supports DDR memory up to 400 will I wast money if I use Kingston HyperX Series Dual Kits 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-4000, which is DDR500? I would like to get this memory as long as it will run without any problems. I have a feeling that they will soon upgrade the BIOS on all 8KNXP's to support the faster DDR memory. Thanks, Myles |

Myles I don't think this board needs such high spec memory. Save some money
and get good quality Corsair DDR 400 stuff. This board will not have great over clocking potential if it's anything like my GA-8KNXP rev 2.0 board. The on board Adaptec dual chanel U320 SCSI looks very tempting. How much is it ? Alan "MPS" wrote in message ... I ordering a new motherboard GA-8KNXP ultra-64 with a 3.0GHx prescott P4. I am using the same memory on my 8KNXP REV2.0 board with no problems.
Did have to up the voltage by +2.0 though or it was very flaky. I got mine at Circut City for less than $ 200.00 after rebates. I still think they screwed up on the price, but hey I wasn't going to complain. Alan,
Egghead has it for $355 with free shipping, I ordered it along with that memory, plus a P4 3.0GHz prescott and a ATI radeon 9600XT 128mb 8X with TV tuner total came to $1201 not too bad when I think back to getting a 486 MB with chip no memory for a cool $1600 plus $700 for memory and another $500 for a SCSI card. I have all the SCSI drives so may not upgrade those unless I can get a good deal someplace. I still hope that they will allow for the faster memory with a bios upgrade in the future. I have a Thermaltake case with a 520 watt PS so should have it up and running soon after it arrives -- well I hope I do as I have seen some people have had problems with the GA-8KNXP.
