8KNXP Rev 2 BSOD and other problems (resolved).
My setup's problem(s) I traced to one of the KVR400X64C3AK2/1G pairs.
Originally, I had two KVR400X64C3AK2/1G installed in DIMM slots 1, 2, 4, & 5. I experienced errors during installation from CD. Ntoskrnl.exe problems on boot, and multiple forms of BSOD. I finally decided to remove 3 of the 4 memory modules, run a single 512M stick in DIMM slot 1, and I saw the same issues. I did the same again with a single memory module from the other pair. No problems. I also increased the DIMM voltage +0.1V. I've applied for an RMA from Kingston, will see if problems continue when I get replacement memory modules. Because, I would like to know if this a timing issue with this motherboard when using this memory configuration (two matched pairs of KVR400X64C3AK2/1G). +---- Setup ----+ Microsoft Windows 2000 (5.00.21.95) w/ SP4 Enermax EG651P-24 550W W/20-24 PIN Gigabyte 8KNXP Rev. 2, BIOS version FG P4 2.4C GHZ (BX80532PG2400D) W/512K CACHE 800MHZ 478-PIN (2x) Kingston KVR400X64C3AK2/1G 2X512MB (MATCH PAIR) PC3200 400MHZ CL3 (4x) WD 250GB WD2500JB EIDE ULTRA-ATA/66-100 8.9MS 7200RPM 8MB BUFFER (2x) WD 120GB 1200JD SERIAL ATA150 7200RPM 8MB BUFFER ATI Radeon 9600 SE |
