PS3DO owners prepare to cry on July 10th, Killzone 2 to be shown
in much-expected, MASSIVELY downgraded form.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166456 you can thank Sony/SCEI for selecting an Nvidia GPU that would be concidered mid-range by 2005 standards, lowend for 2006 standards and almost obsolete now. PS3's GPU the RSX, a castrated GeForce 7800 GTX (8 ROPs, 128-bit bus) with a little extra cache that doesn't have a prayer of reproducing something close to Killzone E3 2005 trailer in realtime. And don't count on the CELL processor to render more pixels & polygons than RSX. All CELL can do is take the vertex & lighting processing load off the RSX shoulders. CELL does not give PS3 more pixels or polygons rendered to the screen per second than what RSX can do on its own. |
