Default athlon-64 x2 memory question

with the x1 I can only urn 2 sticks of DDR-400 at full 4000 rate reliably
while 4 stick only at 333. how does x2 fare?

I am using Asus a8n-vm csm. I got told the same will happen with any other
bd because of the built-in memory controller in the athlon x1

I am running Athlon 64 4000+ with 4 sticks of Crucial Ballistix at DDR400
(2-6-2-2-2-8 timings) - no problem. Admittedly, I had to increase
(decrease?) the command rate from 1 to 2 (a limitiation of the memory
controller) but other than that the memory is really stable. The motherboard
is an Asrock 939 Dual Sata 2.

I did have a few problems with stability initially but once I figured out it
was poor air movement in the case and stuck in a Kama Bay cooler in the
empty 5 1/4" bays the problem disappeared and has not returned.

As my motherboard will take x2 processors, I don't see why upgrading to a 2x
should make any difference.

Glennbo.
