Default installing XP 64 on Turion 64 laptop freeses Same for Vista builds

Has anyone else had this problem?

I just recieved a brand new Compaq v5000z CTO Turion 64 notebook. Upgrading
from my Athlon 64 notebook which is on sale( posted about earlier). I have
been trying to install 64 bit windows XP for X64 or Vista beta1 on it for a
week. The installs would only get so far then the computer would freeze.

In XP 64 it gets to 35 minutes to compleat installation.
"Installing device drivers". Then it freezes. In vista it does not even get
to fully installing the boot manager before freezeing.

I have tried googleling the problem and found simmilar cases but no
solutions that would apply to a notebook. For example changeing a Bios
setting related to plug n play OS. etc. That option is not available in
the bios menu of this comptuer.

I have sufficent specs to run vista or XP X64 as this notebook has slightly
better specs than the on I am selling. XP 64 and vista beta's ran on it
pretty well. No aero glass though. I hope it will be worth it.

Any help will be appreciated.

It probully is a hardware compatiblity issue with your system by the looks
of it. I would wait until they release Beta 2 of Vista and see if they fix
the problem then. Although, I have no idea what the problem is, except that
the OS is too old to see the AMD Turion 64. But it maybe a memory issue, so
I need to know the specs of your Compaq.
