Estimating Power Consumption
Could someone help me ballpark my pc power consumption? or is there a site
that will help me with this or a program that would do it for me? I bought an UPS and I may have undersize it.... My system: PC Chips Motherboard M830 Integrated sound SIS c-media ac-97 Integrates modem mlr AMD Thoroughbred-B Athlon XP 2100 Nvidia video card Gforce2 MX 64 MB 512 MB DDR Ram 2100 two hard drives 1 CDRW 1 Floppy PS 300W Any idea about a ball park power consumption? Thanks, mac It's going to depend on the use of the system, but possibly around 160W. The larger issue is usually the monitor, and how long you need the system up after the outtage. The monitor manufacturer should provide power consumption specs on the manual or elsewhere. Dave |

There are a bunch of estimation charts you can find doing a Google search, then when you get a total you have to consider that not all parts, if any, will be consuming maximal power at any given moment.
