Default Photoshop CS4 & 8500gt

Hi everyone, got a bit of a problem that I'm hoping someone here can solve
for me.......

I'm on XP media center edition and have a NV 8500gt card installed..... 1GB
onboard ram and 4GB sys ram..... AMD dual core 5000+

When I go to the NV control panel (advanced mode) Photoshop doesn't appear
in the list of programs in order for me to tweak the open GL settings.....
When I try to add it manually the NV CPL crashes........

Done all the usual stuff........ reinstalled drivers, reinstalled CS4 and
even went to the extent of a format / reinstall of the OS but still no
show.....

It appeared once but didn't last very long......

Trouble is.... I'm getting a lot of OpenGL crashes in PS and am trying to
figure out if it's because the open GL settings arent correct.........

Anyone got any idea why it's not showing in the NV cpl and / or how I can
get it back there......

Thanks in advance!

Mand

It should work just fine with XP MCE and CS4.......the main stumbling blocks
for GPU are XP 64 and any version of XP/Vista running in SLI or Multi GPU
cards which you aren't using anyway. Which drivers are you using? Have you
tried the latest one? (Forceware 180.48 released Nov 19/08)

Hi and thanks for the route!

I'm downloading it now but....... Nv's site doesn't say it's for the 8500gt
....... their supported cards start from the 8800 GS..... however, other
sites......
http://www.ngohq.com/news/14974-nvid...0-48-whql.html ...... say
it supports cards from the 6000 range upwards.......

I've used the MS certified driver from their updats site....178.13 I
think..... and the NV driver that is offered me in their search for drivers
under 8500gt..... both of which caused me issues in the 3D settings
section....... ( Neither allowing me to add PS as an app or recocnizing
it.) ..... so I downgraded to 175.19 which is now 'at least' allowing me to
add PS to the Progs list withouth crashing.... Speed sux
though.........

What'ya think?

Temptation is great so I'll prob try the 180.48's as soon as I've hit
send........ with fingers crossed!!

Sorry, my bad.....the latest for the 8500GT is the 178.24 driver. Try that
one and see....unless that's the one you have installed already. If this is
the case, I'd try going back a version or two.
