Default KT7A raid mobo hpt driver for windows XP

"chriske911" wrote in message ...
is there a problem with the driver for HPT370 and Windows XP sp1a ?
every time I try to install by directing Windows to the correct inf file for
XP I get a message telling me there is an entry missing, this driver is for
Win95 only

thnx

Not that I'm aware of -
I've got win2k installed and goto the following link

If you scroll down, you'll come to the part about how things
should be installed. Worked wonders for me, although I installed
the graphics drivers right after the initial install and before
the installation of the latest Via 4in1 drivers.

thnx for looking this up for me

I did find the solution for this strange problem

if you point Windows to the correct inf file it tells you this file is not
right since it is missing an entry for the current OS
if you choose the "have disk" option and point to the same inf file it does
install d;|)

it's been since win 3.xx and 95 that I meddled with inf files to get things
going but now I am really baffled

by the way I used win2K sp4 integrated and have choosen not to use the Via
drivers this time and till now it works like a charm with the default Win2k
drivers

anyway thnx again

grtz
