Default HP 1220C cleaning kit?

I've had an HP deskjet 1220C for about 2.5 years. It has been great but now
I have paper feed problems and it wont reliably pull through any paper
thicker than 80gsm. Reading the posts on this group and elsewhere I see
this is a common problem with HP deskjets and the 1220C in particular. I
understand that HP sell a "cleaning kit" to maintain paper pickup
reliability.

Has anyone used this kit and does it work? Or is there anything else I can
try to cure the problem?

Thanks

Bella Aldrich
