Default Canon AX (Same as HP 5) sheet feeder problem after fitting seperator pad

Hi

As my wife will tell you I'm cheap. I decided to replace the seperator pad
in my AX based Canon L6000 myself and I've screwed something up. It was $10
instead of $120 so it seemed worth a try.

It now feeds one sheet but only about half way into the printer and then
reports a jam. The sheet feeder roller does two turns pushing the paper and
all the other rollers seem to be turning OK. Is there some some sort of
alignment I'm missing between the rollers so it'll push it a little further
to hook up with the front rollers? Or something else I should try?

Thanks to anyone who can help me remove the egg from my face
Mike
