2024S Monitor
I have a PackardBell 2024S Monitor. It has gone into "sleep mode"
while I was away and will not awaken. Among other things I have tried rebooting. Anything tried to this point will not produce an image on the screen. The monitor power light initially comes on amber then changes to green, then sits and blinks green. No checkered board test pattern ever shows. Meanwhile a blank screen. I thought that maybe Windows95 was not releasing "Power Management" so I took the battery from the computer hoping to release it. Waited 10 minutes then put battery back and rebooted, but no joy, have the same problem. I am not aware whether that tactic would accomplish what I wanted or not. I am certain the green blinking light is telling me something, just not sure, what. If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful for any help. Or is it time for a new monitor? Thanks for reading this long post. Crg |

When you reboot, do you see the POST (power on self test) messages? If so,
then you have a Windows configuration problem and your monitor is likely OK. If not, then try it on another computer, as Metronid suggests, to rule out a bad monitor. "crg" wrote in message om... In school they taught a thing called the scientific method
It was based upon a theory and included steps I believe that exclusion was part of the method Did you try the monitor on another system to rule out the monitor I am asuming you have another system since you are sending this message Did you try another known working monitor to rule out a system problem Once the known part is detected as valid or invalid further testing can occur and additional help From me and ,-surely from others "crg" wrote in message om... Thanks for reading this long post. Crg Thanks guys for your suggestions. I finally got the nerve to risk my new computer monitor and hooked it up to the computer that I was having trouble with and isolated the difficulties directly to the monitor. The PB machine is fine. Now, I would like to find the problem with the PB monitor. This monitor power switch should show green in normal operation, then turn to light amber in stand-by, or on the power saving feature, with wattage going from 80 to 15. Then turn dark amber when off and using 5 watts. This is what happens with it now: Monitor unplugged from computer: Turn on monitor Green light flashes for 3-4 seconds then turns amber and remains amber Monitor plugged into computer: Turn on monitor without turning on computer Green light flashes for 3-4 seconds then turns amber and remains amber Now turn on computer: Green flashes continuously Turn off computer Returns to amber Does anyone know what the continuous blinking green light is telling me? Does it direct me to a specific problem area that I might explore? I suspect it is saying "I am not receiving full power". But, what should I look for? Maybe I should make a paper weight from it, but on the other hand it may be worth salvaging. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks people. crg |
