FX5900 2d Quality
Just a note about 2d quality to those who may be interested in an FX5900.
I recently upgraded from a MSI TI4400 Vivo to a MSI FX5900 Vivo. The 2d quality of the FX5900 is VERY nice indeed! Noticably better than my TI4400. Running my monitor (LG 995FT 19" Flatron) at 1280x1024, the screen is as sharp and clear as my TI4400 was at 640x480. I always thought that my monitor was the bottleneck that caused my desktop (and games) to be not quite as sharp as at lower resolutions. But I guess it was the graphics card. That is not to say the 2d of my TI4400 was bad. Far from it. It's just that my FX5900 is that good! Also, another noticeable improvement is the quality of videos (avi's and mpgs) especially when scaled upwards, or full screen. Even a 320x240 mpg scaled to full screen is sharp, with little or no artifacts. I knew the DVD quality was supposed to be improved, but it appears that there is an improvement across the board when it comes to video playback. I'm not sure if all brands of the FX5900 cards are as clear as the MSI, but I have a funny feeling they might be. Anyway, that's just my impression. ATI usually had better Video playback, but not the case with upper radeons,
but the FX has some new hardware features which is why you see the improvement. THe issue with the FX currently is the drivers, soem new beta's and Direct X 9.0b show what it can do. THe full drivers won't be out for soem time however. Current games also are not otpimized for it, and to bad there are no 128bit color games. "Anders Albrechtsen" wrote in message k...
