My XP3000+
I bought this Barton desktop (not mobile) CPU yesterday.
Codes:AXDA3000DKV4D Y923917A40370 AQUCA0408UPMW It is a green one. It runs fine, but I noticed that I could change multiplier in BIOS on my Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev2. Changed from 13 to 13,5 and it booted at the higher speed at default voltage, but was not stable. When I tried 12,5, the board gave me 11,5. Checked in wcpuid31. I've heard that this CPU should have been factory locked, but seems as this isn't the case. Have anybody else seen this? Is it made on april 8.? Or is it an old part from august? Egil |

When I tried 12,5, the board gave me 11,5. Checked in wcpuid31. Quite possibly it's not completely unlocked If line 2 of the FID is stuck "closed" (ie: locked, in this case) then 12.5 would become 11.5, 12.5 would become 11.0, etc etc (see fab51). Given that you can change from 13 to 13.5, that indicates line 1 is unlocked, and changing from 13.0 to 11.5 requires lines 3 and 5 to be unlocked. Try changing to 7x and see if it boots at 7x (4th line unlocked) or 11x (4th line locked). I've heard that this CPU should have been factory locked, but seems as this isn't the case. Have anybody else seen this? There have been some very isolated cases of unlocked chips being reported. There doesn't seem to be any particular pattern, with identical steppings being both locked and unlocked (not sure about the serial-number lines though). Since it appears that your chip is not fully unlocked, this possibly means that the locking process is not perfect, and some of the chips aren't locking themselves properly. You may just have been very lucky and got one of the unlocked ones Is it made on april 8.? Or is it an old part from august? It's made in week 8 of 2004, ie: sometime in late Feb. -- Michael Brown www.emboss.co.nz : OOS/RSI software and more Add michael@ to emboss.co.nz - My inbox is always open |
