Default CPU problem ?

Hi Group, you have helped me in the past and I'm hoping you can help me
again.
I am currently running an Athlon XP2000 processor on an Elitegroup KS57A
mobo with 512 DDR ram and windows XP pro, but I cannot get the processor
speed to
run any higher than 1250Mhz, this is I can only set the CPU settings in the
bios to
100/100Mhz, instead of 133/133Mhz, whenever I make these settings the
computer locks just after
the graphics card details are displayed on the screen (on booting up)
The only way I can then unlock the PC is to clear the CMOS by moving one
of the jumpers on the board. I have had the CPU running at 2000Mhz in the
past CPU probbut cant get it to run now.. any ideas??
Any help appreciated

When I say I had it running at full capacity previously I meant it showed
2000xp on booting up
but it was actually running at 1.67 Mhz
sorry for the confusion

I am having the same problem w/a 2400+ on an AS7333. My problem
is HEAT. I added additional case cooling and am not having any more
problems.

I'm just guessing here ok? Some motherboards I've worked with won't let you
go above 100MHz FSB if something is out-of-spec. Have you changed your RAM
timings or something that may have caused this?

I threw a 333 board with a 2400 cpu together last Christmas and was
surprised at the temp of the cpu. 53c at idle was a joke . I am a bit
limited to what I can buy locally and had to settle for a Volcano9
cooler/fan but this stopped the heat problem instantly and I was able to
drop the fan speed to 4000rpm to make it quiet.
The stock cooler for the 2400 just doesn`t seem to be able to keep it cool
enough.
