Default nVidia GeForce FX5600 came without a fan

Purchased a system and video card is a nVidia GeForce FX5600. Every
card I've seen using this chip has a fan on it. The card I have is a
"no name" card apparently, at least I do not see any identification on
it. There is no fan although there is a plug for a fan built into the
card.

The company which sold me this system is not answering their phones or
email. I have a feeling they are out of business. So how do I identify
the manufactuer of this card and do I need to purchase a fan for it?
What kind of fan?

thanks.

I would start by looking at the various models at newegg to see if any of them look like your
card.

So is this sort of hassle it worth the few dollars you saved? Look for
an FCC ID number and do a google search for one of the sites that lets
you plug in the FCC ID number and it'll spit back out a manufacturer for
yah.

Newegg has an Albatron FX-5200 in the Refurb section that comes without a fan.

Dont buy a fan straight away ....

I fitted the Zalman Heatpipe graphics cooler to my card and it seems to do
the job. Its basically a large heatsink. You may need a fan as well for your
card but its worth a look. If you can get away without one it will be silent
!

regards, Jon.
