Max.Drives on 200W Power Supply Unit
Hi,
I have a Dell Dimension V450 with a 200W power supply. I presently have 2 hard drives and 1 cd-rw connected to it. I would like to know whether I can add another hard drive without changing the power supply. I checked on the net and it seems it should work fine. any help with this would be great. Sincerely, PvS |

I would try more than one to see if they agree. 2) The ratings for components represent a peak consumption. Although it is unlikely that all of your components will simultaneously be at peak consumption, it's a safe plan to assume that they are. 3) 200W is not very much for a system with a modern video card. Also, if it is not a good quality PSU, you may not be able to consistently load it to specification. |

Hard drives use a lot of power at boot time and not much while running
..Frankly,I'm surprised you haven't reached the limit of your 200W PS yet. I presently have 2 hard drives and 1 cd-rw connected to it. I would like to know whether I can add another hard drive without changing the power supply. hard drives use hardly any power so i seem to remember reading somewhere, try it and see if it boots ok if not get a new PSU, a new psu cant hurt |
