A7N8X DL, dead... again, after the first reboot

I really don't know why but... the first time I changed the memory freq to
133mhz instead of optimal 166mhz, just to see if the MB can remain stable
with Elixir memory in dual channel mode, and after that...nothing ! the MB
was dead !! No way to recover the MB ! No CMOS clearing was successful... I
returned the MB..
Second one... after the first POST I leaved the memory freq to 100mhz and...
again dead MB !!
It's simply unbelievable, that you have just to modifiy the memory freq to
kill the MB...

Any ideas ?? Why the MBs are diyng ?? There are some way to recover the MB
( ..yes I've tried 10 times to clearing the CMOS getting off the battery)?
The CPU is a Barton 2.500+, I tried this on a AV78X-X getting no troubles at
all..

Stories of consistent motherboard blowouts on first install tend to be power
related or the mother board isn't sitting squarely on the standoffs, etc. If
I had two mother boards blow on me and I went for a third (which, or course
I would) I'd likely also take it to a pro or a riend that is really up on
this and ask them to set it up and let you walk through it with them.

You are not alone. I just zapped(?) my 2nd A7N8D and I didn't even do
anything. It just won't post anymore -no beep, display, nothing. I
have Corsair XMS3200 ramp (2 sticks of 128). Regardless of the blame
game on the ram incompatibilities (JDEC(?) standards or something), I
have had nothing but problems with the mobo. It was just so damn
finicky -random reboots, etc. I'm not overclocking or anything
-standard settings. I am getting this one RMA'd a second time and
will sell it off. I already ordered the Abit Nf7-s since I am just so
sick of the hassle. BTW: The first time it went dead was after a
Bios flash (which I heard a lot of people had problems with. Good

these boards alot but, something just isn't right with that touchy BIOS. By

I had this happen to me on 1st power up. The MB wouldn't even POST. I
cleared the CMOS and still nothing. I then removed all the memory sticks
(after clearing the CMOS) and then it POSTed. Something about pulling the
memory made it come to life. Weird. So, try pulling the memory sticks if
clearing the CMOS alone doesn't do the trick. That's my 2 cents. Oh yeah,
somewhere in the I moved the bus speed jumper around but I don't think that
had any effect.
