no signal input

Hi, I have this pc from a friend that u can here starting up but nothing
shows on the monitor.
The monitor works fine. When I took of the graphics card from my puter and
put it on my friends pcs motherboard that also didn't work(there didn't go
any signal to the monitor(no signal input)). I switched the memory sticks
with mine but to no avail either. Could it be a motherboard malfunction?

You didn't describe how you came to the conclusion that the monitor is
fine. Try hooking up the monitor to a known good computer.

When you boot up your friend's computer does it make any beeping noises
at all?

I hooked up his monitor to my tower as it is working fine.
I didn't here any beeps at startup however.

I hooked up his monitor to my tower as it is working fine.
I didn't here any beeps at startup however.

Start by disconnecting all peripherals and internal cards, including
drives. Leave just keyboard and graphics card. If it still doesn't
boot up with graphics then you most probably have messed up the
motherboard. Also check for a CMOS clear jumper. The motherboard
documentation will show where it is.

His wording was rather poor. It could easily be taken to
mean that he removed his video card from his system, placed
that video card in a friend's (formerly working system) and
upon swapping his video card into the friends' system, at
that point the friend's system no longer worked.
