PRimary (DVI) vs Secondary (VGA) connector for a CRT monitor
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to connecting a CRT monitor to the DVI
port using the DVI-to-VGA adapter or should I simply connect it straight to the VGA connector. I thought maybe the "secondary" connector might be limited in some way. Frank |

I'd go for the direct approach as it takes up less room behind the computer... shoving your computer against the wall usually damages the monitor cable at the best of times - if you've ever tried soldering those wires into a 15 pin D-Sub, you'll know it's a pain. Secondary connector (DVI) should work just fine with an VGA adapter. However
you will not notice any gain or loss in pic.quality. But by using this you can connect 2 CRT's on a card that supports dual-view (i.e 2 onboard ramdac). Normally DVI connection provides better picture quality on LCD screen, but normal crt monitors do not benefit this. Real issue is if you connect DVI panels to your VGA connection by using vgadvi adapter. (PS: Du kunne også ha spurt meg direkte på mailen) "Frank" wrote in message ...
