Best Scanner for Scanning multiple 35mm Film Strips
I have just purchased a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III for 35mm slide
and negative scanning and am quite pleased with the performance and the quality of the scans. I am now looking for a flatbed scanner that will scan the maximum number of 35 mm negatives to generate a contact print equivalent. The quality of this scan is of secondary importance. Total transparency scan area is the primary feature of interest. Any opinions or advice on the best choice for a flatbed scanner for this purpose would be greatly appreciated. |

Photoshop and photoshop elements will produce a contact sheet for you, if
you are planning on scanning all the images. It takes a couple of minutes, not long. You can print it in jewel case format so that you could tape it to a CD with the roll of images on it. That way you have both, a contact sheet and also good quality digital images. Dave "InterceptPoint" wrote in message om... Laser printers are not very good for photos. HP makes a scanner adapter for
their 1200 series laser printers (now 1300). Otherwise there are many combo scanner/inkjet printers. These are not as crisp for text but better for graphics. |

The previous response that suggested inkjet multi-functions is probably answering the wrong question. I originally went with a high-end HP inkjet multi-function that was adequate for photos but totally inadequate for text and bogged down my computer. I then chose an HP 3330 multi-function/flat-top. It has been reliable and fast for printing and scanning text ... a good office machine. While it does scan photos on the flat bed in color, I have not been happy with the quality of scans for hi-quality printing on another photo printer (which this is not). I may have to go to a "film" scanner for this task. OTOH, if the photo scanning is incidental and you're not going to do high quality photo printing from these scans, this HP is probably one of the better choices and highly recommendable.
