Default 1 p4 shows as 2 cpus at the same time

I just upgraded. Cleared cmos, clean drive. Several programs got two
different meters going for the same cpu.
Anybody relate?

Sigh...
Let me guess: your processor has hyperthreading? Each of the virtual
processors/Cores wil be shown as a separate processor.

Try searching next time...

Thanks. Did alot of searching /research just to purchase. The two meter
thing was never mentioned, not even in the half dozen reviews I read.
If searches answered everything, what would this newsgroup do....

Provide the answers for the searches in the first place?

I'm not impressed with my upgrade, who wants my hyper-threader 1mb prescott
2.8 custom built pc for 50 bucks?
It's got the dual channel ram, and oh my, the sata. An ATI for stunning
orgasmic graphic, on a mobo labeled "platinum"
It runs quiet too Ahhhhhhh, ohhhhhhhh......A dvd writer, i've had a year and
never used, and a 52x cdrom, just cuz it fits!
I'll even throw in the usb bootable floppy.........
hang onto this post, I bet its dumped like a $10 p2 a month or so from
now.... I'm getting too old for this line of crap.
Come to think of it, maybe the p2 for my net chores wasn't a bad 2100 dollar
idea....
PC Evolution became synonymous with satanic marketing full of lies. I'm all
done with it.
Somebody take this two-meter-for-one-cpu junk and call it your treasure.

OK, I'll repeat my followup question from the last time this
question was answered (because nobody answered me). Is the
converse always true? That is, if device manager does NOT list
two CPUs, does that mean your hyperthreading is not working or
not set up right? What say you, experts?

If hyperthreading is turned on, and that selection is normally offered
in the BIOS setup somewhere, then two CPUs should be displayed.
