Ati 9500 pro
NO. The 9500 (non pro) and the 9700 have a 256 bit memory bus. The
difference is that the 9500 (non pro) has half the pipelines disabled. The "modding" reinstalls the disabled pipelines. The 9500 pro has all of the pipelines in operation but uses a 128 bit memory bus. No way to double that. "James A Taber" wrote in message ... Is it possible to modify a 9500 pro to get performance like 9700 pro? |

I'd love to get a 128Mb 9500np, with the Red PCB, they've all been
withdrawn, since they were easilly modded to 9700pro specs. Hi Gary, Thanks for your answer, What is your opiniun about whether to buy 9500 pro/ 9500 np/ 9600 pro ? What do you recomend? You are right, and I do love my $155.00 9700.
But then again, that's probably the only computer part I was ever in the right place at the right time with. Most drop 20% right after I buy them. If you don't overclock, the 9500 pro definitely has the most bang for the
buck. I have one (made by ATI) and am quite pleased. The 9600 pro has more overclocking headroom though. If you can find the 9500 non pro that is capable of the "mod", it may be worth the risk. See the Newegg link below. However, reading the owner reviews on the Newegg site, it appears that getting the telltale distortion after a mod is common. It's just a gamble. I would guess that the 9500np's use 9700 chips that flunked some quality test. "James A Taber" wrote in message ...
