Default Best drivers for GE4

I have an MSI 4800SE 8x, which MIS sent me to replace my faulty 4400.
(4800SE is just an 4400-8x)

Which are the best drivers to use with it?

I installed the latest then went back to 44.03 because 3Dmark 2001SE dropped
below 10000.

Anybody got advice on which driver version is the best compromise between
stability and performance, or should I just upgrade every time they release
new ones?

I am running an Asus A7NXdlx with an Athlon 1800, probably go to 2800 when
the price drops.

I don't believe anyone running any form of g-force 4 card will
achieve any benefit from running driver version higher than 4351

As far as this issue goes just set the multi on a 2500 to 12.5
and you have an instant 2800 barton, no voltage increase needed
in most cases.

Which is proof that the latest drivers are actually *better* than the
44.03 series, because now they are rendering the scenes correctly.
Did you lose any speed in an actual game?

Hi there

I am running the latest drivers. First of, they are certified for Geforce 4
not like the 44.xx which were only
certified for the FX series.

As for the performance, well, I found that the performance have actually
improved over the ^previous
drivers in MOHAA and other fps games.

The image seems a little crisper as well. Anyhoot, it is your decision but I
am satisfied with the 45.xx certified drivers.

If you have stability and correct rendering, who gives a f&$k what 3dmark
says? A fact of life is that the most recent drivers usually have
optimizations for the newest cards, this applies to chipset drivers also.
My rule of thumb is go with newest driver, if unstable or you have sudden
lock-ups, freezes, etc, hello previous driver. My oldest computer has a
TNT2/M64 in it and does fine with the 45.23's. (Then again is a net
computer, no gaming)
