I agree with not wanting/needing all the extra features that an
all-in-wonder card provides. I have Dish Network satellite television service and I couldn't use a tuner card with PVR functions even if I wanted to. I would recommend (if you have a free PCI slot) that you get the Radeon card of your choice and a seperate card for input. I use a Prolink X-Capture (bought from Newegg) and it works with DSCaler for TV viewing and VirtualVCR for capturing. It has a composite RCA input and an S-Video input. It uses a newer 10 bit Conexant video chip (cx-23881) that allows captures up to 720x480 with a nifty built in combing filter that cleans up the picture for better quality. The audio source goes straight to the sound card line-in jack. The quality is fantastic and the capture card will only set you back about $40. BG P.S. Here's a link to it at NewEgg. If you read the customer reviews, you'll see that I'm in there (yeah, I'm a Homer). But, I made the comment last June and I still feel the same way. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...=BROWSE&depa=1 |
