Default ATI 8.1 Installation question

I have W98SE. I uninstalled my old AIW 128 with MMC 7.2 and replaced
it with the AIW 9000 Pro with MMC 8.1. Card works great (I have
captured video with it via another program) but I cannot seem to get
over the MMC 8.1 installation pitfalls.

Issues:
1. When I install, the part where it says that it is installing the
Windows Media Encoder hangs (but the computer continues to be
operational) as evidenced in Close Programs with "Dasetup (not
responding)". I don't know what that means nor what to do about it.
Once I get past that the rest of the installation goes well.

2. When I go to play TV, it does so quite well for about 4 seconds and
then I get the IPF for ATIMMC in module CONEXC.DLL. Once I clear that,
an IPF for ATIMMC in KERNEL32.DLL pops up and that window won't go
away unless I shutdown. The computer seems to operate OK except for
MMC.

3. I have read that it could be a codec or something so I created the
ErrorLog registry key and got the following "failure" results:

All of the ones below were in the same log "ATIMMC\TV-Live.txt".
Other logs had no failures.

a. ATI AV Crossbar (stored as WDM Audio CrossBar)
Attempting Connection: WDM Audio CrossBar (pin 1, Video SVideo
Out) to WDM Video CorssBVar (Pin 1, Video Tuner In)
-- Failed

b. Loading Filter: ATI TV Tuner (sotred as WDM Tv Tuner)
Atempting connection: WDM TV Tuner (pin Analog Video) to WDM Audio
CrossBar (pin 0, Video Composite In)
-- Failed

It does the same thing for WDM Audio......(pin 1: Video SVideo In)

c. Loading Filter WDM Tv Tuner (pin Analog Audio) to WDM Audio
CrossBar (pin 0, Video Composite In)
-- Failed

It does the same thing for WDM......(pin 1: Video SVideo In), and
for (pin 3: Audio Line In)

d. The end of the log showed for Loading Filters that were apparently
never "found"
WMAudio Encoder DMO
WM Speech Encoder DMO
Indeo audio software
Nero Audio Encoder

I no longer have Nero in the system. I tried to take out the Nero
entries in the Registry but there are billions of them!!

I have tried uninstalling with cleaning out all windows ATI folders,
files and registry folders... 3 times. Same thing every time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!
