Hit the garage sales and the thrift shops. Printers are heavily into
USB now. Any shop will want more for the cable and toner
than the printer is worth. Do you even know if it works?

I just picked up a HP laserjet 1100 printer (Model 4224A). I have never
used a laser printer and I cannot find the info I need on the HP site.

1. I have an IEEE 1284 printer cable but it does not fit the laserjet it
is about double the size of the laserjet connector. Is there a special
cable that I need? The HP website simple says an IEEE 1284 cable. 2.
There is a port on the bottom rear of the printer labeled PE. THe port
looks about the size of a headset input socket. There is no internal pin
visible in the socket. What is the purpose of this socket?

Any info or links appreciated.
Thanks
Jerry

I got the type C printer cable (mini centronics) from frys, and the
printer works great. It does have a problem with not using just one
sheet of paper. I got it at a garage sale along with a spare toner
cartridge. Obviously because of the paper handling problem. I will hit
more garage sales, maybe I can find more supplies for it.
It was my own lack of awareness of the existence of the mini centronics
adapter, and I missed the reference to it on the HP website.
THanks to everyone for the info.
Jerry
