Need Temperature Sensor with LCD
I am looking for a temperature sensor that I can place near the CPU
and show the temperature outside the case in a small LCD display. I am thinking of building an enclosure to house the PC in order to minimize noise. But I am wondering whether this may increase the temperature inside the case. Therefore, I want to test it inside an enclosure that I have already built for a different purpose to see if the CPU temperature may raise or not. In order to do this, I need to find a way to check the before/after CPU temperature. Unfortunately, my PC is a Dell Dimension 4300 that doesn't have a temperature sensor on the motherboard (it has a P4 though); therefore, I cannot use software such as Motherboard Monitor to check the temperature. I appreciate any suggestion on this subject. Thanks. Jay Chan |

Digital Doc (don't know version number). Has multiple heat sensors which you
can place anywhere you want, plus fan speed monitors, alarms (user set). Small LCD readout. Link to review: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/article.php?threadid=126 |

Indoor/Outdoor digital thermometer with sensor attached to heatsink. Cheap.
Easy. Available everywhere. There are also some of the fan/speed control accessories that will do that with a small probe you can tape to the bottom of the cpu, but they are expensive and not really needed for what you want to do. The cheap thermometer will show you the temperature difference just fine. Great! I will go look for them in Home Depot or Radio Shack to see if they are suitable for my application. Thanks. I've been looking at ordering one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...y=51 064&rd=1 I'm not affliated with the seller in any way, shape, or form. But the idea looked good, and the price was pretty close to right. Checkout the CompuNurse. Has two temperature probes and very compact.
It seems to be very nice, and its price is right. I will check it out. Thanks for the link. BTW, Have you tried it? Have you ordered anything from that store before? Thanks again. Jay Chan |
