Default NVRAM Question?

Hi,
My friend has a computer and half the time he boots it up, when you first
turn your pc on and it checks the memory, it is coming up NVRam- Update
Failed and the pc doesn't do anything. Can someone tell me what this NVRam
is and what may be causing this problem. Thanks for any help.

Nvram is a none-volatile area of your Flash BIOS chip.
Try pulling the power cord out and clearing the BIOS and then reset
the correct parameters and save on exit.
Also try new CMOS battery and make sure it's secure when in situ and
that the contacts are clean and OK.
