Default Upgrade from Seagate U Series 5 ST320413A 20GB 5400RPM

I want to upgrade to a faster hard drive than my current Seagate U Series 5
ST320413A 20GB 5400RPM for music writing and games performance mainly.

My questions are whether new/latest hard drives will give me a noticeable
improvement in speed from this one? Also what specs or models should I be
looking for? Will it improve 3dmark scores/ game performance?

Running Win XP, AMD Xp1800, 512MB DDR, Radeon 9600.

Regards,
nb8k
