Default Making HP 4200C scanjet work on a multiuser XP pro system

I think I solved the problem with my HP ScanJet4200c working for the
account that installed the HP Precision Scan LT software but not
working for other accounts.

My scanner worked fine if I was logged into the account I installed
the software. If I log in as a different user, I get "There is a
problem with the registry settings. One or more settings were reset to
the default values. [2099]." Then another window comes up with "An
error was detected in your scanning software settings. Please
reinstall your scanning software. [2141]."

Using the info in a posting by Stoney I managed to get this to work.

The XP professional procedure is not the same as Windows 2000.

First you only need to copy and add the
HKEY_CURRENT_USE\Software\Hewlett Packard part of the registry. The
registry info was the same on all accounts for
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hewlett Packard part of the registry.
However after doing this the scanner still didn't work - you get a
message telling you that you don't have permission to access a file.
I believe this is due to the fact that on my system Users and Power
Users don't have delete privileges in the software installation
directory (E:\SCANJET for me). I think it only writes files in
E:\SCANJET\ISTech\PLUGINS11 but giving the group Power Users full
access to entire e:\SCANJET tree fixed this problem.
