Default Proliant 1600 RAID Question

I have a good ol reliable 1600 Proliant running Netware 5.1 on it. I
added a drive to it. Not having any luck expanding the array using
CPQONLIN. I can create a new array with the new drive but cannot see
how to add the new drive to the current array. Any tips?

Thanks

Hi,

Any chance you have NFS running on NW5.1? I am looking for it...

Try:
- Check the firmware and update if required (BIOS + Array controller)
- Boot to a SmartStart 5.50 CD
- Run the Array Configuration Utility
- Add the drive to the array and let it rebuild
- Restart Novell, and you should find that your old drives are there as you
left them, and you have space to create a new partition. This should work
regardless of the OS.

This does depend on what RAID controller you have - not all SmartArray
controllers can expand a RAID, but with most, you can add a disk and migrate
the RAID to whatever it will be with an extra disk. Once you've migrated,
you can't go back.
