acer 2700 series & ram

Just bought an Acer 2700 series travel mate, installed extra 500meg ram
but computer only see,s it as 250.
thought it was ram and had it changed, same again.

supposed to auto recognise ? any ideas.

Check the specs, there could be a limitation in the BIOS. If the system
will only recognize 32/64/128/258/384/512, etc. there's not much you can do
unless there is an upgrade and your willing to flash the BIOS.
