Default pci-e x16 ver 1.0a mobo

i have a mobo with a pci-e x16 slot ver 1.0a

was wondering what would be the best graphic card for
that mobo.
i have a nividia 8400gs pci at present.
presently looking at the zotac 240gt 512.

that one has 128 memory interface. would it work with ver 1.0a pci-e slot.
or is that version only 64 bit.

What's the mainboard you are using and I'm sure you can use a 240GT with it.
Some of the newer mainboards use PCI-E 2.0 / 2.1 which I read is backwards
compatible (???) as well. You didn't specify what you intend to do with the
card; are you a gamer / video - photo editing / etc?

the mobo is a biostar geforce6100-m9
no on board video. the pci-e x16 slot is ver 1.0a version.

what i was thinking of doing was having both video card
in the system. the 8400, being the main console display.
the 240, being the display to a lcd tv. (by the hdmi)

the system would be mostly for internet tv.

both video card would be only one display on each.

when i am not watching tv, was plaining to have the program folding@home
runing on the 240 video card.

There is literally only like 1 or 2 well known mb's that are not
backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.x (that is PCI-E 1.0 boards that won't
work with 2.0 cards). And of the one I'm familiar with, the
manufacturer supplied a BIOS update to fix it.

Also the memory bus is an internal structure not related to the physical
slot. You only ever have to worry about it when buying a decent card
(higher bus bandwidth is always better).
