Will DX10 be available for XP?

I've given up on Directx. OpenGL is much more stable, has been in
development for much longer, is cross platform AND is open source.

But that's just you. The rest of the world will be doing Direct X.

Yeah, fine - as far as development is concerned. The average Joe
doesn't give a crap whether a game's DX or OGL, just so long as
it sure looks purty. OGL does purty, too. And a greater adoption
of OGL may facilitate cross-platform development.

Gimme more purty commercial games on Linux.

Exactly. Doom 3 and Quake 4 are opengl and are damn "purty" and run on linux. The
comparison? Halo 3? only dx10 and ONLY on Vista. Bah!

Also, note that I've been running UT2004 under linux 64bit and opengl. 10% better
fps and fewer crashes that under dx and windows.

id software choose opengl because it was the best available at the time. I find it
very interesting that they never ported their engines to directx when directx
"supposedly" became better that opengl.
