Default ATI vs NVIDIA based card??

recently switched to an ATI 9600 PRO card. i'm not real sure i like the
quality. a few months ago i tried an NVIDIA based 5700FX card and had some
serious display issues in games. there were distortions in the graphics.
don't know if this was driver of system based. since that time i have
fdisked my box and reloaded everything. i am wondering if the issues i was
having with the GeForce card was driver based and not hardware based.

what truly is the better card to have?? should i go up to the 9800 pro with
256MB or try to move over to a GeForce FX card?

thoughts, suggestions or ideas?

The 9600 Pro is hands down the best card for the money. Now, if you really
want the fastest graphics card, the 9800XT is the way to go, but for a lot
less, you can have 98% of the XT's speed with a 9800 Pro. I've been a long
time nVidia user, but ATi is in my future unless something changes with
them.
