GA-8IHXP: f8 boot conflict w/ Promise Raid0 and adaptec 29160 scsi card
I'm hoping someone can assist with a booting issue that I have with my IHXP.
I am currently running XP Pro off of a raid 0 array on the on-board promise controller. It works fine. I also have an Adaptec 29160 with a scsi drive attached with an install of win98 and MDK9.1. WHen I boot to XP, it sees the scsi card and drive with no problems. I'd like to be able to use the f8 boot loader to choose between which OS the system boots to. What I am running into is that when I have the raid array enabled in the bios, the array appears as bbs-0 and is an option to choose from with the f8 boot loader however the scsi card/drive is not visible. WHen I disable the raid array, then the scsi card appears as bbs-0 and i can boot to it. I can not figure out how to get both the raid and scsi card to appear as boot options. I know that the board supports 2 bbs options as my 3com NIC has an option in its bios to be bootable. when the nic is set to bootable, it appears as bbs-1. I thought that disabling the ability of the NIC to boot would have enable the scsi card to appear as bbs-1, however that is not the case. One of my old asus boards had onboard scsi that has a bios setting to allow you to have that on-board scsi or another card boot first. I have searched high and low in the f7 bios that i am running and can not find such an option. Anyone know the fix here? I have tried moving the card so that the promise and scsi do not share the same irq but that did not help. Any help would be appreciated! |
