Question about video card - advice needed
Hi - I have a GeForce 4 - 64MB video card that's produces a great image for
games such as Medal of Honor Allied Assault. However, with MOH Pacific Assault needing higher graphic card specs, I need to replace the GeForce 4. I am not ready to build a completely new computer at this point, so I need an inexpensive stop-gap video card until I am ready to upgrade everything. This video card looks like it will do, since it's DirectX 9 compatible and is only $45.80. What are your opinions? Don't do this!
Geforce Fx5200 is significant slower than your current Geforce4. I bought a Fx5200 myself. After 4 months with horrable framerates I bought af Fx5900xt which I have never regret. If you buy faster your CPU will be the bottleneck... AMDXP2000, 512 MB RAM, Leadtek 350xt (Fx5900xt). "Joe727" nospam.nospam@nospam skrev i en meddelelse .. . Joe727:
However, with MOH Pacific Assault needing higher graphic card specs, I need to replace the GeForce 4. The 5200 is slower than your current card. If you want to stick with Nvidia there aren't any good budget cards right now. The 5700U and 5900XT are both over $180. If you're into overclocking, you could buy a 5700LE and overclock it to 5700U speeds. The FX cards are not known to do well in HL2. The best bang per buck cards right now, IMHO, are the Radeon 9600 series. -- Mac Cool |

Get a 6600GT agp. Or if that is too expensive wait a few weeks for the 6600
to come out in agp format. DaveL "Joe727" nospam.nospam@nospam wrote in message .. . I agree, don't do it! If you are really interested in good frame rates in newer games the FX5900XT is the minimum upgrade I would recommend. Thanks - it's strange that the naming convention actually has higher numbers that are slower cards (Fx5200 vs 440MX). Joe |

I have a Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB video card in my other computer and it works great, but it won't take drivers higher than the 3.9 ones. Any higher and I can't set AGP to 4x. Joe |

I'd rather wait until I decide what components to use to build a new computer. It will have an Athlon 64 bit CPU. Joe |

Forget it. FX 5900 and up or ATI 9800 up. The 5200 is slower than the 4600. The
5600 isn't much better. Hi - I have a GeForce 4 - 64MB video card that's produces a great image for games such as Medal of Honor Allied Assault. However, with MOH Pacific Assault needing higher graphic card specs, I need to replace the GeForce 4. |
