Default GA 8IEXP - USB2.0 causes crashes

Hi all

I'm using the GA 8IEXP mobo, and I'm experiencing a lil' problem with
the USB ports on it. It seems that whenever I plug something into them
that uses USB 2.0, Windows XP (and 2k... tried fresh installs of both)
freezes completely and I've got to reboot. This only happens when both
USB 2.0 is enabled in the OS (via installing service packs), and a USB
2.0 device is plugged in (namely my new MP3 player). Otherwise it
works as normal, at USB 1.1 speeds

I've actually bought myself a PCI card with some USB 2.0 ports on it,
and these work fine. It's only the motherboard ports that cause this
problem.

Anybody know why this might be?

Hey,

I got the same problem same board, mine finally refused to
boot.Waiting for a RMA from Gigabyte.Good to know the PCI card
works.Somebody else in this group had the same problem with a
GA-7VAXP,said his 2 add-on ports were actually USB 1.1 and the
on-board header was USB 2.0.I am wondering if this is the case for
this board, although my manual says specifically they are USB 2.0.
