SmartStart not so smart? Compaq Proliant DL380 issues
Hello,
Just finished reading another thread on the same G1 DL380 but I'm still unable to rebuild my array. I only have one of four SCSI disks but would like to get Ubuntu Linux running for test/dev purposes. I googled around and found a copy of SmartStart 5.5 on HP's site and burned a copy of it to CD. however, when I boot up the server and hit f1 or f10 to continue, it says, "non-system disk error". I have been able to boot up another CD (the Ubuntu install CD) so the CD drive is in the boot sequence its just not recognizing this disk. Could've been a bad burn and I'm willing to retry that but I'm wondering if I require a boot floppy. I just want to set up a non-RAID disk with the Compaq Sys Utils. on a small partition on the disk and the rest I can handle thru Ubuntu. TIA
