Hard drive failed?
My brother has a hard drive that appears to have failed. 40 gig Western Digital. No error message, it just fails to continue to boot-up after POST, memory test, IDE detection etc... it just stops. No apparent HD activity, no looking for any other boot media, no matter how I set it up, nothing. Installing this on any computer (I tried several), any IDE port, master or slave, the computer this drive is attached to just stops booting. Weird eh? BIOS sees it just fine but I can't use a boot disk to attempt use any utility as it stops the boot process when attached. Anyone see this before? Regards, Joe S. |
